Goodbye to a Legend
Sammy Baugh, legendary Redskins QB and inaugural member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, died yesterday aged 94. Slingin’ Sammy played with Washington from 1937-1952. He still holds Redskins records for career TD passes (187) and completion percentage in a season (70.3). His 31 interceptions on defense are third on the team’s career list. He still owns the league mark for single-season punting average with 51.4 yards. Legendary.
Goodbye to the top scorer
Last week 48 year old Morten Andersen officially retired from the NFL due to knee issues. He played for Atlanta last year. He finishes with 2,544 points 110 ahead of Gary Andersen. Talking of NFL kicking records last week Detroit had something to celebrate as Jason Hanson broke the NFL record for most successful 50+ yard field goals in a career, with 41.
Goodbye to a franchise man
New Orleans have put Reggie Bush on IR after he sprained his medial collateral ligament in his left knee during the Saints loss to the Bears. As a result Wayne is scouting the waiver wire to find a replacement. Bush was in his final franchise year with Wayne.
BUMS on Seats.
